Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent by 1988. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Her coverage included a variety of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the budget and tax reform and also the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
